Abernant Day 4

Day 4: Balancing Acts and Trusting Steps!

Day 4 of our Year 6 residential was a fantastic blend of balance, bravery, and trust! The children tackled new challenges with enthusiasm, and we're so proud of their progress.

Finding Our Balance: Stand-Up Paddleboarding!

The morning started with a splash as we took to the lake for stand-up paddleboarding. It was a test of balance and coordination, and there were plenty of wobbly moments and gentle (or not-so-gentle!) falls. The children quickly learned to adjust their stances, find their balance, and navigate the water. Needless to say there were challenges to complete and conquer. Many conquered, some attempted and we all made a splash! It was wonderful to see the children's confidence grow as they mastered the art of staying upright and even attempt to push the teachers off their boards! Mrs Jordan managed to stay dry; Mr Gunn did not.

Reaching New Heights: Climbing Wall Challenge!

Next, we faced the climbing wall! This activity pushed everyone to their limits, both physically and mentally. The children encouraged each other, celebrated every successful climb, and learned to overcome their fears. Some reached the top, while others challenged themselves to climb higher than they thought possible. It was a testament to their determination and resilience.

Trusting Our Senses: The Blind Trail!

The afternoon brought a unique challenge: the blind trail. This activity required the children to rely on their other senses and trust their teammates as they navigated a course while blindfolded. Guided by their partners, they learned to communicate effectively, build trust, and rely on each other. It was a powerful experience that highlighted the importance of teamwork and communication. Of course getting muddy was obligatory.

A Day of Growth and Teamwork!

Day 4 was filled with moments of laughter, achievement, and even more personal growth. The children are learning so much about themselves and each other, and the bonds they're further cementing are truly special. We can't wait to see what adventure tomorrow brings!

After this evening's sessions it was time to get packed, ready for the journey home after our Hill Walk tomorrow morning. Needless to say, there were some interesting packing techniques!
