School Uniform

Our school uniform adds to the children’s sense of belonging and pride in being an identifiable part of our school community.  It creates and equal playing field and hopefully saves everyone a bit of time in the morning.

Winter uniform

  • Red polo shirt
  • Navy sweatshirt or cardigan
  • Grey trousers
  • Navy skirt or pinafore.
  • Gray, navy blue or black socks.
  • Navy blue tights.
  • Black school shoes (not boots or trainers)

Summer uniform

As above but children can choose to wear:-

  • Grey shorts
  • Navy blue gingham summer dress

PE kit

  • Light blue t-shirt
  • Navy shorts
  • Trainers
  • Navy blue tracksuit/jogging bottoms and sweatshirt (optional, but useful in Winter)

Hair

Where long enough, hair should be tied back with plain hair bands and clips.

Use of hair colour, tram lines and similar are great fun for the holidays but we would prefer that children do not have these during term times.

Make-up

Children should not wear make-up or nail varnish in school.

Jewellery

The only jewellery permitted should be plain stud earrings.  If children can’t take these out safely by themselves, please ensure they are not worn on PE days.

Watches

Children in KS2 (Years 3 to 6) can wear a watch.  These can be great support to practise telling the time.  However, we do not permit the use of smart watches for safeguarding reasons.

Please note, particularly in relation to jewellery and watches, children should not bring in items from home with a high value (either personal or financial) in case they get lost or damaged.

Purchasing uniform

Buying your child’s school uniform should not be a financial burden.  Although you can purchase many branded items, there is no expectation for children to have these.  Plain uniform is just as acceptable.  Our PTA regularly run second hand uniform sales which are a great way to source everything your child needs.  Aldermaston School uniform items can also be purchased from Michael Hope.

Finally, please remember that all items of clothing, kit and footwear should be clearly marked with your child's name.
