Geography curriculum

At Aldermaston, we want our children to have a deep knowledge and understanding of the world in which we live. We want our children to understand the changes that have already happened in the world, and the differences between different parts of the world. Through our curriculum, children will explore physical features of the world, will investigate how the world is changing, and know where to find countries and continents in the world. We aim to develop children who can talk about the world and its features, can identify ways of helping to conserve and protect the world, and understand how to use and apply geographical skills.

History curriculum

At Aldermaston, we want our children to have a deep knowledge and understanding of events that have happened in the near and distant past. We want our children to understand the differences in History around the world, as well as recognising changes in the U.K. Through our curriculum, children will explore a range of ways of finding out about the past, will investigate why historical events happened, and how people and countries have adapted to make sure that similar events do not always happen again in the future. We aim to develop children who can talk about different historical time periods, can identify key historical figures, and understand the reasons why events have happened in the past.
