Since September 2014, schools have been required to actively promote fundamental British Values.
What are British values?
British values are:-
- Democracy
- Mutual respect
- Individual liberty
- Tolerance of different cultures and religions
- The rule of law
We often visit these values through our programme of collective worships and also through our curriculum, particularly in PSHE, history and RE.
Our School Council is democratically elected every year and they work hard to represent the views of their peers and improve our school.
To ensure that every value is regularly revisited during the school year, the School Council suggested that our learning heroes should also promote these values. And so they do.
Every term we focus on one learning hero and this also gives their associated value prominence throughout that term.
