(Sorry, glitch in the matrix last week and it didn't update!)
This week's joint winners are Robins and Wrens!
Well done everybody (and well done to Owls for squeaking into the lead last week, sorry you didn't get reported!)
The Advent Book Stack
Here's a little idea to try. Advent starts on Sunday, and advent calendars get filled with all sorts of things these days - chocolates and cheese and cosmetics and even beer! - BUT have you ever done the Advent Book Stack?
Simply wrap up 24 story books in newspaper or Christmas paper. These don't have to be Christmassy (although they can be!) and they don't have to be new - I used to buy three or four new titles and just pull everything else off the children's bookshelves. Leave them in a box or in a stack and, every evening or every morning, you have one to unwrap and share. You'll be reading the last book on Christmas Eve. If you're organised, you could number the books so that they get steadily more Christmassy as you move closer to Christmas - we always used to read The Night Before Christmas on the 24th - or you could just let the kids choose and make it a free-for-all!
Eco-friendly, potentially very cheap/free, super exciting and easy to do, and (unlike nearly everything else in an Advent calendar!) genuinely beneficial to your health - story time reduces stress, regulates our breathing and helps us sleep better.
Do let us know if you give this a go!
