Day 3 - The halfway point.
We were treated to a gloriously sunny day today, once the sun burnt away the morning mist.
Another day fuelled by cooked breakfasts and fresh fruit, supplemented by multiple bowls of cereal too! The children needed it, as this morning's activity was the hill walk, 5 miles of walking through the local countryside and surrounding hills. With the low clouds today, at points we were cloud level and at points even higher. Excellent weather for walking, we were treated to some stunning views. Along the way, learning about the local habitats, planting of native trees and how, historically, the locals beat the candle tax with pig wicks.
The children were super speedy and arrived back ahead of schedule, leaving enough time to complete some initiative/ problem solving games before lunch. Highlight being the children balancing 10 nails on only 1 nail!
After lunch, the group enjoyed navigating the low ropes course and the much anticipated zip wire! The low ropes course was a great test of the children's team work and balancing skills as well as their perseverance. Motivated to stay out of the boggy mud under the low ropes, the children skilfully completed the low rope sections, working in pairs 'spotting' each other. The zip wire was highly anticipated, all children conquered any fears they may have had and all children had multiply goes, some going on it three times. Certainly being one of the group's favourite activities so far.
After dinner, the group's activity was rifle shooting. Fully safety briefed, the children were able to have multiple goes, firing at targets and scoring points. After 3 goes individually, the group was split into smaller groups to work together to score points and take points off of their opponents. A nice relaxed activity to end the day.
Penultimate day tomorrow - wait and see what the group gets up to.
