Once again the weather has been kind to us here at Abernant. We spent this morning on the lake learning new skills and improving our ability to to use canoes and kayaks.
In our Canadian canoes, it was all about teamwork and sharing strategies for the different games we played on the water. Some teams were a little more sportsmanlike than others - I'm afraid the adults were extremely competitive. We all learnt to work together the get the best out of the canoes and to ensure we were travelling in our intended direction.
After a hot drink and biscuit break, we moved into the kayaks. It was quite different working as individuals but we were still able to use the skills we had learnt earlier in the morning. The kayaking definitely involved more contact with cold water. Thank goodness for the drying room!
In the afternoon we split into two groups again. Group 9 went abseiling and tried their skills on the blind trail while Group 10 also abseiled and had a chance to experience the zip line. All the children were amazing at rising to the challenges of these different activities.
This evening, it's quiz time.
One thing the adults are particularly enjoying is the daily room inspections. The children started the week with high standards and they continue to impress. This is a scored activity and the children are becoming more creative every day with their attempts to impress us. Tidiness is no longer enough! Even the teddy bears are getting involved...
